Advice for horse owners during the Coronavirus outbreak
The British Horse Society has useful advice for horse owners during this difficult time. Please follow the link:
On a local level vets are not doing routine work such as boosters and an amnesty will be arranged after the outbreak. Emergency cases are the only ones which will be attended with strict distancing rules etc. Farriers will now doubt try to carry on but there will be issues for sure. Anybody coming to see your horse must be informed if you are self isolating.
Youngs are supposed to be open 8.30 to 11 am but are temporarily closed due to staff shortage. 26.3.20. Check on Facebook for updates.
Oakes are open 10-4 but obviously stocks are likely to be limited and restricted.
Strict protocols are in force in both places.
Let us hope the good weather continues and helps us to reduce on feed and bedding but please be aware of the risk of spring grass and less exercise leading to laminitis.
In these trying times the committee wishes all our members and friends a safe passage through this unchartered water.
